36: Roundabouts work better!
Problem: A roundabout works better than a traffic light intersection. This has been proven over and over again.
Still so many classic intersections although:
1: the traffic flow capacity of a comparable roundabout is better,
2: the chances of serious injuries is much less,
3: with no electronics involved, the operational costs are much less.
4: changing intersections without traffic lights also works as a speed reducing measure for instance at the entrance of a village.
Solution: So if we are serious about reducing the amount of injured and killed people, roundabouts need to be rolled out in a much higher pace.
